Stephanie Wells Mason was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. The youngest child in her family, she followed the example of her parents and siblings, developing a love of reading, learning and writing. She graduated from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington with a degree in biological and chemical science, but put her professional plans on hold to raise three children with her Canadian-born husband, Dean. As a young LDS mother who balances the demands of family, religion and society, she uses her own experiences as the basis for her writing. Stephanie loves to travel and has made friends all over the world. She lives with her family in Kalispell, Montana.
Where are you from?
I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, went to college in Tacoma Washington, and live in Kalispell, Montana.
Tell me about your family.
I’ve been married to Dean Mason for 21 years. We have three kids, ages 13-18.
Where did you go to school?
I attended Granite High School in Salt Lake City, then graduated from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. My degree was in biological and chemical science. I had planned on going to graduate school to become a geneticist and though I still like science, most of what I read now is fiction.
Do you work?
Other than raising three kids? Yes, I am the office manager for an elementary school in the Kalispell school district.
What kinds of hobbies do you enjoy?
I’m an avid reader of virtually all types of books. I’m also a runner. I’ve participated in several half-marathons and one marathon. I enjoy outdoor recreation–which Kalispell is great for–like hiking, skiing, and camping. I also love to travel.
